TeAM courses available

Presently, there are five TeAM courses available: oral anticoagulation, heart failure, acute coronary syndrome, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and venous thromboembolism.

Other topics are being developed and will be announced in due time.

  • Oral anticoagulation

    General Information:

    • The TeAM Course of Oral Anticoagulation discusses the use of hypocoagulant drugs in the treatment and/or prevention of thromboembolic events in several clinical scenarios, such as valvular and non-valvular atrial fibrillation, venous thromboembolism and VTE prophylaxis, in medical or surgical patients.
    • In this course trainees are required to take the following modules:

    | When and how to initiate oral hypocoagulation

    | When to suspend it for diagnostic exams or therapeutic interventions

    | How to deal with any bleeding complications

  • Heart failure

    General information:

    • The TeAM Course of Heart Failure aims to discuss the diagnosis and etiology of heart failure syndrome, the use of different complementary diagnostic and risk stratification methods, pharmacologic treatment, including neurohumoral blockade and other adjuvant drugs, therapeutic options in advanced heart failure, including the use of electrical devices, surgery, handling of comorbidities and palliative care in heart failure.
    • In this course trainees are required to take the following modules:

    | Diagnosis and risk stratification of heart failure

    | Treatment of heart failure

    | Approach to comorbidity and advanced heart failure

  • Acute coronary syndrome

    General information:

    • The TeAM Course of Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) proposes to discuss the diagnosis and risk stratification of ACS, the antithrombotic treatment in acute phase, the reperfusion and coronary revascularization options and strategies for secondary prevention of events. Also in discussion is the handling of patients with complications and comorbidities, which are a recurrent challenge in clinical practice.
    • In this course trainees are required to take the following modules:

    | Initial approach to ACS

    | Secondary prevention of ACS

    | Complications and comorbidities in patients with ACS

  • Doença pulmonar obstrutiva crónica

    General information:

    • The TeAM Course of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) aims at discussing the diagnosis and classification of COPD, the use of diagnosis and risk stratification methods, the identification of comorbidities, pharmacologic treatment and other therapeutic options, such as smoking cessation, domiciliary oxygen therapy, ventilo-therapy, rehabilitation and palliative care in COPD..
    • In this course trainees are required to take the following modules:

    | Diagnosis and classification of COPD

    | Pharmacologic treatment of COPD

    | Non-pharmacologic treatment of COPD

  • Venous thromboembolism

    General information:

    • The TeAM Course of Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) aims to discuss predisposing factors and diagnostic and prognostic risk stratification in VTE, fibrinolytic and antithrombotic support treatment in the acute phase, indications for other non-pharmacologic therapeutic measures, the duration of antithrombotic treatment and indications for long-term prophylaxis and follow-up strategies for patients with VTE, which constitute recurrent challenges in clinical practice.
    • In this course trainees are required to take the following modules:

    | Prophylaxis, diagnosis and risk stratification of VTE

    | VTE treatment in the acute phase

    | Long-term treatment and strategies
