Hospital da Luz Pneumologist Speaker in Congress of the Specialty

Maria José Guimarães, pneumologist from Hospital da Luz Guimarães, integrated the panel of speakers at the annual congress of the Portuguese Society of Pneumology, which gathered specialists from all over the world, in the Algarve, between 9 and 11 November.

In her intervention, Maria José Guimarães talked about the Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), namely the epidemiology of this disease and present recommendations for non-invasive ventilation and respiratory rehabilitation.

This was the 33rd Congress of Pneumology, dedicated to the theme “O Ano da Revolução na Pneumologia” (The Year of Revolution in Pneumology).

For specialists in the area, this is one of the most important annual forums for discussion and sharing of knowledge.

Maria José Guimarães has, moreover, an active participation in the Portuguese Society of Pneumology, being coordinator of the respective Interest Group in Ventilation Support to Neuromuscular Patients, besides integrating the work committees of Sleep Pathology and Respiratory Physiopathology, and COPD.
