The social institution Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Loures opened “Afetos Partilhados” (Shared Affections), a store with items for pregnant women and babies up to two years old, to support deprived families in need of this kind of essential goods. “In such difficult times for all of us, to reinforce the importance of sharing and solidarity becomes key, to help mitigate the increasing difficulty to access essential goods, namely by families economically deprived”, highlights Patrícia Nunes , HBA nurse and author of the project. “Afetos Partilhados” accepts donations of items – new or used and in good condition – for pregnant women, recent mothers and babies up to 24 months. Those items are then sold at low prices and the revenues are used to prepare hampers of goods to be given to people in need. The space is run by volunteers of Misericórdia and the cases selected to receive the hampers are signalized by social institutions located in Loures. Moreover, there is a bank of technical help for babies , these mothers can resort to and rent for a symbolic price items like babycoques, strollers, baby auto seats, marsupio carriers, cradles and baths. The project also envisages the establishment of partnerships with some institutions and brands. The “ Afetos Partilhados ” store is located on Rua dos Combatentes do Ultramar, in Pinheiro de Loures (on the crossing between Fonte Santa and Estrada Nacional 8). All contributions are welcome!
