Protechting , the international program designed to attract and boost startups, promoted by Fidelidade, Fosun Foundation and Luz Saúde, set a record of applications this year: a total of 346 projects from all over the world. This is the 7 th edition of Protecthing , that has for purpose to support the development of international projects contributing to improve the protection of people in the strategical areas of technology for health (healthtech) and technology for insurances (Insurtech). The jury has already started the process of selection, presently analysing every application in order to identify the most promising projects in those areas. Shortly, the startups proceeding to the interviews phase will be contacted. The startups reaching the final phase will have the opportunity to develop their products in collaboration with the companies of the universe Fidelidade/Luz Saúde. They may also receive up to 50 thousand euros funding to develop pilot projects or be invited to travel to China and establish strategic partnerships. The program has already supported the development of over 40 pilot projects and led to five trade agreements. Among the startups supported are companies such as Visor-Ai, Bdeo, UpHill, Glooma, Nevaro and Gripwise. From the outset, the program counts with the support of Luz Saúde and its company for the area of education, research and innovation, Hospital da Luz Learning Health. Among the mentors of this year edition are several elements of the Group – namely, Francisca Leite (executive director of Hospital da Luz Learning Health), Nuno André Silva (assistant director of Hospital da Luz Learning Health for the area of innovation), Nélson Brito (head of Luz Saúde Customer Service department), Ana Bento (director of Business Analytics), Cristina Mesquita (director of Clinical Operations Design and Control), Isabel Ventura (assistant director of Technology and Information Systems department), Nuno Gato (assistant director of Marketing and Communication), Pedro Lima (head of Logistics and Operations department) and Valdemiro Monteiro (director of Maintenance). Protechting 7.0 counts once again with the support of accelerator Fábrica de Startups.
