Hospital da Luz Arrábida has now new premises with the most advanced equipment, to give support to the areas of Arrhythmology and Hemodynamics , where are diagnosed and treated the alterations in heart rhythm and diseases of the cardiovascular system, respectively. This renovation allowed to enlarge the range of procedures applied here, which are highly complex, and ensure even higher safety. Our medical team of Arrhythmology is coordinated by João Primo and includes Helena Gonçalves, João Almeida, Marco Oliveira and Sérgio Barra . The medical team of Hemodynamics counts with Pedro Braga (the coordinator), Alberto Rodrigues and Hélder Ribeiro . In the scope of Arrhythmology , the new premises allow the safe and effective treatment of different heart rhythm alterations. At Hospital da Luz Arrábida, we perform : Implantation of cardiac devices, such as pacemakers and defibrillators; Diagnosis and treatment of different cardiac arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation (the heart rhythm alteration of higher incidence among the Portuguese population), ventricular and supraventricular tachycardia. This lab is equipped with the latest mapping systems, that allow the treatment of arrhythmias with high success rates. In the scope of Hemodynamics , Hospital da Luz Arrábida counts with a highly differentiated multidisciplinary team – integrating interventional cardiologists, cardiac and vascular surgeons, internists, intensivists and anaesthesiologists – with competence to treat all diseases of the coronary arteries, besides problems in the mitral and aortic valves. In the area of Hemodynamics, we perform all diagnostic and intervention exams , namely: Cardiac catheterization; Coronary angioplasty and stent implantation; PFO closure (Patent Foramen Ovale), closure of interatrial communications (IAC), closure of patent arterial duct, and closure of the left atrial appendage (LAA); Implantation of aortic valve prosthesis by percutaneous procedure (TAVI); Percutaneous treatment of the mitral valve. The new Arrhythmology and Hemodynamics room at Hospital da Luz Arrábida, for its technological innovation and ergonomy, allows to perform all different procedures of diagnosis and intervention with higher safety and quality – an advantage even more relevant in the most complex procedures, that require the simultaneous intervention of different specialists.
