The Hospital da Misericórdia de Évora Pneumology Service, within Hospital da Luz Network, will celebrate the World Asthma Day, on May 5, offering free screenings of asthma symptoms through spirometry. All those interested should register previously via MY LUZ or by phone 266 760 630 (national land line). Asthma: Is a chronic pulmonary disease characterized by inflammatory alterations in the airways; May cause shortness of breath, wheezing, sensation of heaviness in the chest, or even merely prolonged dry cough; It is frequently associated with an allergic component, the symptoms occurring in the presence of certain triggers (dust mites, pollen, pet hair, or chilly weather, among others). Diagnosis is established through a respiratory exam, spirometry (blowing into a small tube), allowing to confirm the existence of air flow obstruction. If you have any of the symptoms above referred, take the screening.
