The term “ hyperactivity ” is commonly used to refer one of the most frequent neurodevelopmental disorders in children: the attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, also known as ADHD. This is the topic of the conference that Hospital da Luz Guimarães will hold next October 10, destined to parents, teachers, and health professionals . The session will have as speakers specialists working in the field, which will be available to answer the questions of the public: Diana Baptista , neurodevelopmental paediatrician, who will explain how the ADHD diagnosis is established and how the plan of therapeutical intervention is defined; Inês Marques , neuropsychologist, who will talk about the role of Psychology in the approach of ADHD; Adriana Lopes , occupational therapist specialising in sensory integration, who will give a perspective on the work of such specialists. The debate will be launched by Carlos Guimarães , clinical director of Hospital da Luz, and moderated by the Paediatrics coordinator of this unit, João Nascimento . The appropriate approach to ADHD is essential to improving the quality of life of those who live with and interact with this disorder.
