José Ferreira Santos, clinical director from Hospital da Luz Setúbal, will be present in one of the initiatives developed by the Portuguese Society of Cardiology in that city, on April 12 and 13, in the scope of the campaign taking place in several cities of the country, on the dangers of cardiac insufficiency, including the installation of a giant anatomical heart to raise the awareness of the population. The campaign “Signs of the Heart. Don’t let the journey end too soon”, launched on January 25 this year, views to alert and inform about the most frequent symptoms associated with cardiac insufficiency, a cardiovascular disease that affects about half a million Portuguese, causing high mortality. Moreover, it is the first cause of hospital internment for individuals over 65, the last five years registering a 20% raise in the number of episodes of internment associated. In Setúbal, the giant heart will be installed at Praça do Bocage, on April 12, and then, on April 13, at the centre of Av. Luísa Todi, near Mercado do Livramento – where there will take place the session counting with the participation of José Ferreira Santos, cardiologist and secretary-general of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology. On both days, information will be distributed to the population on cardiac insufficiency, symptoms and prevention.
