«Counselling in Palliative Care: Challenges and Implications in Practice» (Consultoria em Cuidados Paliativos: Desafios e Implicações para a Prática) is the title of an article signed in co-authorship by Catarina Simões, head nurse in charge of Clipóvoa Palliative Care Unit, and published in January edition of «Jornal do Enfermeiro», one of most prestigious national magazines among nursing professionals. In this article, signed by Catarina Simões together with nurses Sandra Neves and Cátia Ferreira, attention is drawn to the fact that «in the operationalization of work in counselling, it is fundamental that the nurse interiorizes and recognizes his/her role, that he/she is able to respect diversity of opinions and points of view, that he/she cooperates with other professionals and collaborates with his/her pairs, delegating and assuming what is of his/her competence, and sharing cares, in the ultimate purpose of promoting and contributing to healthcare service quality and better assistance practices. Nurse Catarina Simões is post-graduated in Palliative Care and a direction member of the Portuguese Association of Palliative Care (Associação Portuguesa de Cuidados Paliativos).
