How we faced the first wave and prepared for the rest of the Covid-19 pandemic - this is the central theme of the new edition of the Beatriz Ângelo Hospital (HBA) magazine. Magazine nº 25 closes this year 2020, which will remain in our memories for a long time, precisely as a record of what we should not forget, what we have learned and how we have grown as an organization and team. We went to hear patients with Covid-19 treated at HBA. We gave the floor to the professionals who are in the wards, the intensive care unit and the emergency room every day. We show services - such as oncology, the hemodialysis unit and the operating theater - that have never stopped. And we reveal the initiatives and measures taken to support all the employees of the Hospital, both in the daily and safe provision of care for patients, and in the rear, to help combat stress and anxiety. Finally, we would like to thank everyone who, from abroad, also contributed to making the lives of Hospital professionals, in their day-to-day lives, less difficult. This is the edition of the magazine in which we tell the story of the year 2020 at Hospital Beatriz Ângelo. And it also includes advice, in the words of the executive director of HBA, Artur Vaz, published in the editorial of this magazine: «The best way to thank the extraordinary people who do extraordinary things, every day, in our Hospital, is to protect themselves and protect others. Only in this way will we be able to reduce the unbearable additional burden of Covid-19 in the usual activity of the HBA and continue to ensure all patients, Covid and non-Covid, with the quality health care they are entitled to» . The Beatriz Ângelo Hospital magazine has a circulation of 100 thousand copies and is distributed free of charge, door to door, in the homes of the parishes of the 4 municipalities in the HBA's area of influence. It is also available to take home in all waiting rooms and public places of the Hospital.
