Hospital Beatriz Ângelo (HBA) received, this week, for the second time in three years, the international accreditation of quality and safety by the Joint Commission International, the world main hospital audit organization. This time, the HBA results were even better than in the previous process of accreditation performed by JCI in 2013, the hospital now obtaining more than 99% of conformity with the international standards of quality and safety established by that organization. The international accreditation attributed to all clinical and non-clinical HBA services means that the hospital respects, at all levels, high standards of quality and patient safety, in areas such as hospital infection control, medication safety, health care provision and even management. In this second audit by JCI, the international auditors – a team of doctors and nurses of different nationalities – followed during an intense week professionals and procedures, at all levels, in order to evaluate about 1300 parameters of quality and safety. The final result of the process earned a special appraisal by JCI team to all the hospital collaborators. HBA is part of the Portuguese National Health Service network of hospitals, managed in public/private partnership by Luz Saúde Group - Hospital de Loures management society.
