Visiting the largest Christmas thematic park in the country and taking the opportunity to evaluate eye health: this was exactly what many children and youths, aged between 3 and 16, did, when they visited Perlim, in Santa Maria da Feira, on December 17 and 18. A team of ophthalmology professionals from Hospital da Luz Clínica de Santa Maria da Feira performed around a hundred screenings , where were analysed parameters such as visual acuity, ocular movement and colour vision, among others. Ocular assessment in children is fundamental, even in those who never showed any visual difficulty – and prevention is always the best option. Accompanying and cheering up these screenings was Lu, the Hospital da Luz paediatric mascot , who, besides being much requested to take photos, never let anyone out without a small gift. Perlim: Takes place every year, since 2008, and stays open during the whole month of December; Offers the thousands of visitors coming every year unique moments of celebration of the Christmas season; Has for main characters the twin elves, Perlim and Pim Pim, imaginary inhabitants who lend their name to the park.
