Hospital da Luz Clínica de Cerveira was present in the “Solidarity and Innovation Night” organized by Cerveira Sport Club, which took place on October 11 at the club’s stadium. Integrated in the Pink October celebrations, this initiative gathered members, fans and numerous women who filled the stands in an atmosphere of sharing, consciousness raising and community spirit. Along the event, a nursing team from Hospital da Luz Clínica de Cerveira carried out free health screenings. It also took the opportunity to divulge the campaign under course in the context of breast cancer prevention : until October 31, women between 45 and 50 years may come to the clinic and take a free screening consultation. In the match against Deucriste Sport Club , the players of CD Cerveira senior football team entered the field wearing pink shirts, showing their support to the cause of breast cancer prevention and early diagnosis. Lu, Hospital da Luz’s mascot, joined the celebration, also wearing a pink shirt, and together with CD Cerveira's mascot cheered up the public and handed out smiles to young and old alike. The president of CD Cerveira, Vítor Pereira, expressed “a special thanks to all members, fans, and in particular all women filling the stands”. “CD Cerveira embraces and unconditionally supports the Pink October cause and the importance of prevention. I take the opportunity to highlight our lasting and successful partnership with Hospital da Luz, which announces a promising future of collaboration for the community and health”, he stated. He also stressed the innovating nature of the club’s initiative, holding the match by night with artificial light so as to dynamize local commerce and involve the whole community. Hospital da Luz and CD Cerveira have agreed this month a protocol establishing special conditions in healthcare for athletes, members, collaborators and immediate family. This action reinforces the commitment of Hospital da Luz Clínica de Cerveira to the promotion of health, prevention, and support of the local community, through partnerships that bring the hospital closer to its clients and the institutions of the region.
