Hospital da Luz Guimarães celebrates 10 years of existence on January 20. “We celebrate this moment with all those who have embarked on this project daily wearing the shirt of the Hospital, leaving in every person, every patient, every family member, a mark of humanity and sense of purpose”, declares Sérgio Viana, Hospital da Luz executive director, also thanking the clients “who trusts us with their health day after day”. These 10 years were made of numerous stories but only make sense if we keep going on, looking into the future. In that sense, Luz Saúde, Hospital da Luz Network holder, is already planning a global investment of around 10 million euros in the expansion of this Hospital (allowing a 30% increase of its capacity) and the building of a new clinic in Famalicão. In this hospital unit, over 2 million euros have already been invested in new imaging equipment and requalification and enlargement works of the parking lot are underway. “Luz Saúde is strongly committed to consolidate its healthcare offer in the region, always maintaining the excellence of care provided and the quality of infrastructures”, highlights Sérgio Viana. “After the investment in new equipment, it makes perfect sense to move the strategy to the expansion of service offer, in the context of Hospital da Luz Guimarães, and beyond with the opening of a new ambulatory clinic in Famalicão, which will operate in integration with the hospital”, further states the manager. The new Clinic in Famalicão: Is already underway and scheduled to open in the beginning of 2027, representing an investment of around 7 million euros. It will provide to the population of the district and neighbouring municipalities a complete offer of ambulatory care, with consultations in multiple medical and surgical specialities, and complementary diagnostic exams, including complete imaging services. “We aim to provide our professionals the best conditions for them to fulfil their mission, this way ensuring that they respond adequately to all those who seek for our care”, states on its turn the general director of Hospital da Luz Guimarães, Ana Abreu, further adding: “Working in teams and in network is already part of our matrix, and we are sure that with the new clinic in Famalicão, we will be able to bring more quality to our clinical services and make a difference in the life of those who come to us”. Exams with state-of-the-art equipment In the context of the bet on the region, Hospital da Luz Guimarães has recently modernized its imaging centre with the acquisition of new equipment, involving an investment of 2 million euros. “This way, we reinforce our diagnostic capacity rendered more accurate, faster and more comfortable for our patients”, advances the clinical director Carlos Guimarães , further stressing: “Now we are able to provide diagnoses that are more adapted to the individual characteristics of each person, thus increasing the possibility, for instance, of an early detection of breast cancer. All of which meaning that we can make safer and mor efficient clinical decisions”, concludes the physician.
