Hospital da Luz Learning Health has once again been certified as an international training centre in Gynaecological Endoscopy by GESEA (Gynecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment), a programme run by the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE). The certification was first obtained in 2017, and this recertification, following an audit, reinforces our commitment to excellence in medical and surgical training. The GESEA program is a structured educational pathway in gynaecological endoscopy designed to train and certify surgeons’ competence in minimally invasive techniques through a progressive learning process. It combines theoretical training (e-learning modules with online assessments) and practical psychomotor skills training in laparoscopy and hysteroscopy, while also evaluating surgical competence in both simulated and clinical scenarios. The goal is to ensure excellence through standardized training, offering different levels of certification. Hospital da Luz Learning Health was the second centre in Portugal to obtain this certification , which qualifies it to implement the GESEA – Gynecological Endoscopic Surgical Education and Assessment program, developed by the European Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (ESGE). This European certification allows Hospital da Luz Learning Health to deliver the following GESEA program levels: Level 1: Bachelor in Endoscopy; Level 2: Minimal Invasive Gynecological Surgeon; The GESEA Program is aimed at residents and specialists in Gynaecology and results from a partnership between the European Academy of Gynaecological Surgery and the European Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy. Trainees have the opportunity to repeatedly practice endoscopic techniques, with their skills being evaluated according to objective and standardized criteria. The course includes two levels, each lasting approximately five hours, and the certificates issued have lifetime validity at a European level. Hospital da Luz Learning Health extends its gratitude to the entire team involved in the recertification process, with special recognition to Filipa Osório and António Setúbal (Hospital da Luz Lisboa), for their crucial role in consolidating the Training and Simulation Centre in the field of Gynaecology and Obstetrics, as a certified reference since 2017.
