The Hospital da Luz Lisboa Oncology Centre will hold once again, on October 22, in partnership with the Portuguese Cancer League (LPCC) , a symposium on the topic of breast cancer, open to the general public. In the context of the Pink October world initiative – the month dedicated to the prevention of breast cancer –, the session is free, but with mandatory previous registration. Breast cancer is the most frequent oncological disease in women, but can also occur in men. With an early diagnosis and adequate treatment, breast cancer is curable in most cases, thus being essential to raise awareness to the importance of prevention and divulge information and forms of support to patients and families. The program of this year’s conference includes: A discussion about volunteer projects in the area of oncology; Sharing of experiences by the LPCC delegation of Seixal, the Oncoactive Project (of association Partilhas e Cuidados) and by the Support Groups for women with breast cancer of Hospital da Luz Lisboa; A lecture by Luciana Lobo, one of the founding members of the Brazilian association ZEN Cancer – Integrative Health in Oncology. In Portugal since 2022, this non-profit association develops, voluntarily and free of charge, several activities to promote the physical, mental and emotional welfare of patients. The conference will be held as always in interaction with the audience and will count with interventions by professionals of the Oncology Centre: nurses Ana Santos Pereira, Graça André and Marisa Pinheiro Falé, the director of the centre José Luís Passos Coelho , and the general-surgeon Paulina Viana Lopes . Register and participate! Date and time: 22 nd October 2024, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Place: Hospital da Luz Lisboa (main auditorium) Registration: HERE
