Hospital da Luz Lisboa received, for the second consecutive time, the ITIJ award for Medical Provider of the Year 2023 . Considered the most relevant award in the area of international travel and International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI), the winners were announced at the annual ITIC Global congress of International Travel & Health Insurance Journal, which brought together nearly a thousand professionals from insurance, hospitals, air ambulance, and assistance companies from all over the world in Barcelona, Spain, on November 9 th . Eve Jokel, Director of International Patient Services attended the event and accepted the award on behalf of the hospital. She said, “Last year, Luz Saúde was the first Portuguese company to win this prestigious award. This year our application highlighted our flagship, Hospital da Luz Lisboa, in order to recognize the significant achievements that took place over the last year.” She explained, “Hospital da Luz Lisboa was recognized as the only private university teaching hospital in Portugal, with one of the largest clinical simulation centers in Europe. It has advanced a promising VBHC program and is an international reference center for the ERAS program.” In the ITIJ judges’ comments supporting their selection, they said Hospital da Luz Lisboa was chosen for “(also) focusing on the international patient with a commitment to quality and fair value, while being forward-thinking and developing across several functions. The ERAS program and the simulation center are two such initiatives worthy of mention.” The director of IPS of Luz Saúde affirmed that “this award is the result of the work of all the professionals at Hospital da Luz Lisboa and Luz Saúde over many years”. And she concluded: “I believed we had a winning candidacy. But being chosen for the second year in a row was a big surprise and an honor! This recognition contributed to consolidating our position as a top hospital group for this international community for years to come.” Promoted by ITIC, the ITIJ awards selected 22 finalist organizations, distributed across seven categories, each with a winner. Hospital da Luz Lisboa won the Medical Provider of the Year 2023 category, rewarding excellence, a strong commitment to partners in this business and our common international patients, as well as the significant achievements obtained over the last year.
