Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim joined the S. Pedro Cup 2025, one of the major young football tournaments in the country, organized by Varzim SC and integrated in São Pedro festivities, which animate the city in this time of the year. In two consecutive weekends – 14 and 15 June, at the Municipal Stadium Training Fields, 21 and 22 June, at Varzim Stadium – this tournament has gathered 228 teams, 55 clubs and over 3,000 children in Under-6 and Under-13 categories, in an atmosphere marked by great passion, joy and… a lot of football! We believe that sports and health are inextricably linked. Where our community is, Hospital da Luz is also present. Therefore, it was with great satisfaction that we have supported this tournament, reinforcing our mission of promoting healthy lifestyles from childhood. Along the four days, our mascot Lu was present, enthusing the young ones with its cheerfulness: distributing balloons, activity books, and lots of hugs and smiles, cheering the teams, and delivering MVP (most valuable player) diplomas to the best players in every match. Lu was definitely a highly prized figure during the event, especially by children who could not resist asking to take a picture or a moment of fun. Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim reinforces the importance of regular practice of physical activity, not only as a way to promote physical health, but also as a fundamental contribution to mental and emotional welfare. It is early on that healthy habits are built; therefore, we actively support initiatives involving the young ones. We thank Varzim SC and the whole organizing team for the professionalism, dedication, and success of this S. Pedro Cup edition. It was no doubt a great celebration of sports and youth – and Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim is proud to be part of it.
