It was by the end of 2018 that Hospital da Luz Vila Real opened its doors in the centre of the city, giving a new life to an historical building very dear to the population, “the old Tocaio Hotel”, thus realizing one of the major private investments in the region. On this anniversary, we would like to thank the inhabitants of Vila Real and the population of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in general, for the trust placed in this project and in our health professionals. From the very outset, the challenge was to offer the population of this region a new concept of healthcare, within an integrated and technologically differentiated project. In full operation since December 2018, the hospital offers consultations in several specialities, surgery in an operating theatre, a modern and complete imaging centre, a maternity hospital, inpatient service, an oncology centre, and 24/7 emergency care. Hospital da Luz Vila Real is proud to be, today, a hospital unit of reference in the region. We always try to help and support all those who seek for us, and we wish to continue growing and be worthy of your trust. To mark this special date, we have symbolically gathered five of the hundreds of children born in our maternity unit: Matilde, the first baby to be born here; the twins Leonor and Lourenço (now aged four); Laura (aged three); Clara (aged two); and Áurea (aged one), who for being born in December are also to be congratulated.
