GLSMED Learning Health – the Grupo Luz Saúde company dedicated to advanced training, translational research and innovation in healthcare providing and management – celebrates its fifth year of existence. The numbers and the projects already developed reflect a journey of success. Created in 2015 September 9 , better known as Hospital da Luz Learning Health , was the result of a commitment by Grupo Luz Saúde towards the practice of a medicine of excellence, resorting to highly qualified professionals and the more advanced technology. Its activity is developed in three main areas : Training and simulation , to enhance learning throughout life, crucial to achieve high levels of performance and clinical excellence. Hospital da Luz Learning Health has already organized over 1,800 courses and clinical events, that counted with the participation of 45 thousand health professionals from all areas. They have at their disposal a cutting-edge simulation centre , its new facilities of 1,500 m 2 in the building of Hospital da Luz Lisboa to be inaugurated very soon. Research , in order to promote and support projects by health professionals aiming to develop new methodologies, that enhance healthcare providing and add value for the patient. The Hospital da Luz Learning Health team participated in 150 clinical trials with over 400 patients and 320 research projects. It also participates in and promotes several projects with external funding, both Portuguese and European. Innovation , in order to make available the resources necessary for the creation of new products and services in the area of health, from the conception, prototyping and piloting of the idea, to the positioning in the market. Hospital da Luz Learning Health works in close collaboration with 15 start-ups for proofs of concept, having established protocols with 5 of them. It has also participated in 5 acceleration and entrepreneurism programs and 2 corporate hackathons, resulting in 4 winning ideas. It also has projects co-financed by Portugal 2020 : the Luz Simulation Centre: The Secret for the Next Step, and Intelligent Care – Intelligent System of Multimorbidity Management (more information on these projects available here ). “We acknowledge that Hospital da Luz Learning Health deserves to be congratulated for these first five years and aspire for more.
