Hospital da Misericórdia de Évora and Lusitano Ginásio Clube, also known as Lusitano de Évora, have established a partnership for the next football season (2026/27). The agreement provides that this Hospital will be the official medical service of the club’s senior football team, including medical exams and physical assessments to athletes, such as the pre-season testing that will take place along July. The agreement between the two institutions was formalized in late June by Inês Noronha Lopes, director of the Hospital da Misericórdia de Évora, and José Eduardo Boto Correia and Fernando Manuel Sobral Reis, vice presidents of Lusitano (both on the right in the photo above), and Vítor Ramalho (on the left in the photo), the club’s team doctor. Lusitano Ginásio Clube: Was founded in Évora in 1911, then named Lusitano Futebol Clube. During the 20 th century has played a very important role in the development of physical education and sports in the Alentejo region. It has for motto “Making the weak strong”, and in 1925 adopted its current name in accordance with that spirit and determination. It further developed a significant cultural and educational work, through the promotion of adult literacy classes and the creation of one of the finest private libraries in the country. The football team has competed for fourteen seasons in the first league, between 1952 and 1966, among those with most appearances in the top tier. It won the Second Division National Championship in 1951/52, and more recently the Portugal Championship in 2024/25. Presently plays in the Third Division. Sports partnerships are a valuable tool in the fulfilment of one of our missions: promoting healthy lifestyles and preventing disease, which necessarily includes the practise of physical exercise. Lusitano joins the over 40 sports clubs and associations all over the country that count with our support. Welcome!
