Hospital da Luz Coimbra has celebrated a protocol with Quinta das Lágrimas Golf Club, establishing its support to players by providing medical services. The initiative is part of Hospital da Luz network strategy towards promoting sports in the community and supporting access to health services. “Since the Club’s Academy is certified by the Portuguese Golf Federation, we are bound to comply with strict requirements in the context of sports medicine. Therefore, the celebration of this protocol was shown to be highly pertinent for the club and will represent a great advantage for young athletes that will gain access to an entity of reference in Coimbra in medical care providing, such as Hospital da Luz Coimbra”, states on its turn Miguel Soares, the president of the club’s board. Through this protocol, “we offer specialized sports medicine to the training teams”, stresses Pedro Beja Afonso, the Hospital da Luz Coimbra administrator. “Besides establishing a trusted partnership with Quinta das Lágrimas Golf Club, we also intend to promote the practice of sport and healthy lifestyles, bearing in mind that golf is an intergenerational sports modality, from childhood to advancing ages. Being practiced outside and in contact with nature, this is an activity naturally beneficial for the health and welfare of the practitioners”, he further adds. Hospital da Luz Coimbra has been celebrating protocols with different sporting institutions and clubs in the region, thus allowing access to services and highly specialized health professionals, in the context of its clinical program of Sports Medicine. Created in 2001, Quinta das Lágrimas Golf Club is integrated in the historical and prestigious Quinta das Lágrimas, where through a dedicated academy the learning and practicing of golf is promoted, a modality with an increasing number of participants in the central area of the country.
