The differences between men and women concerning heart diseases, how to proceed face to problems posed by some therapies with no clear scientific guidance, the importance of cardiovascular check-up, and the changes in the approach to resistant arterial hypertension were a few of the topics discussed in Cardiovolution, the meeting on cardiovascular medicine annually promoted by Hospital da Luz Setúbal Cardiology team, and which took place last March 6. As highlighted by José Ferreira Santos , cardiologist and Hospital da Luz Setúbal clinical director, “this event reflects our commitment towards clinical excellence and the continuous learning of our teams”. As per usual, in this year’s edition held at Novotel Setúbal participated cardiologists, internists and General and Family Medicine physicians from Hospital da Luz and other institutions. It was an intense day of scientifical sharing, debate and updating, with special focus on what is changing in clinical practise, the results of scientific studies published over the last year, and the impact it might have on the daily routine of health professionals. The program started up with a highly participated workshop – “The decision-making theatre: relevant clinical cases!” – putting the participants at the centre of clinical decision-making. Beyond the above-referred themes, the role of semaglutide in obesity and its impact on cardiovascular health, the changes being introduced by Artificial Intelligence in clinical practise and in the relation doctor-patient, were also discussed, counting with a multidisciplinary debating panel. In fact, all sessions were followed by moments of discussion, promoting interaction with the audience and experiences exchange. In the session “Ask Me Anything”, the Hospital da Luz Setúbal Cardiology team was challenged to respond, comment and debate questions posed by participants, in an atmosphere of great involvement and participation. In the contest of clinical cases, the prize was awarded to Catarina Lagoas Pohle, from Hospital de S. Bernardo, for her work “When the first manifestation is fatal: sudden death in a young adult”. The Cardiovolution has also included a playful and educational moment, the “Image Quiz”, where the winner was José Cabanas Carvalho, from USF Pinhal Saúde. This was another successful edition of Cardiovolution (the participants rating it at 4.7 on average, in a 0-5 scale). If you are a health professional, write it down on your agenda: the Cardiovolution 2027 will happen March 5 in Setúbal .
