The 24 th edition of the International Table Tennis Tournament “Póvoa de Varzim City”, which took place on the 16 and 17 March, repeated the success of previous years, with the clinical assistance to athletes being coordinated, once again, by Hospital da Luz. The competition, one of the major events in the national calendar of this modality, was organized by Póvoa de Varzim City Hall (Department of Sports), in partnership with Grupo Recreativo Estrela do Bonfim. At the Municipal Sports Hall, over 400 athletes, representing 57 national and international clubs, played hundreds of matches on the 20 tables available. Olga Chramko, athlete from ADC Ponta do Pargo, won in the senior female category, while Gaston Alto, from CD 1º de Maio, won in the senior male category. In the assistance centre set up by Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim in the sports hall – equipped with all the necessary means to meet the needs of such a tournament –, many athletes found help to treat small injuries and muscle contractions. Our team comprised nurses Ana Teresa Queirós, Joana Moutinho and Rafaela Silva, and physiotherapists Ana Simões, Joana Teixeira, Maria Trigo and Vivian Afonso. Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim thanks the tournament organization for the opportunity to support once more this great initiative, as well as for all the collaboration provided. Sports is for everyone, at all ages, counting with a vast support from Hospital da Luz ( link sports partnerships ). https://www.hospitaldaluz.pt/en/about-us/sports-partnerships
