Four Luz Saúde hospitals – namely, the units of Hospital da Luz Arrábida, Lisboa and Setúbal, and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo – integrate the Portugal Clinical Trials, the national portal of clinical trials. Launched last week by AICIB (the Agency of Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation) and Apifarma (the Portuguese Association of the Pharmaceutical Industry), the Portugal Clinical Trials is a digital platform gathering and providing information on the activity of national clinical research centres, namely studies and clinical trials. Studies and clinical trials represent one of the main strategic areas of development in Health. This portal has for goal to attract and obtain more clinical trials for Portugal, to provide information on those already being carried out, and to expedite the referral and recruitment of patients. The Portugal Clinical Trials integrates: A database of clinical trials undergoing in Portugal; Information for patients (for instance, how clinical trials work and why they are important); A presentation of the clinical research centres in the country, with a description of data on the activity being developed. The Luz Saúde hospitals included in the portal work in collaboration with the research centre from Hospital da Luz Learning Health (company of the group dedicated to education, research and innovation), which centralizes all the processes of submission of studies and clinical trials and supports their development.
