Maria Nazaré Rosado, Luz Saúde hospital pharmacist, obtained the Oncology Pharmacy Specialty Certification (BCOP) , granted by the Board of Pharmacy Specialty (BPS) – an international certification that qualifies hospital pharmacists as specialists in Oncology Pharmacy. This is the second hospital pharmacist in Portugal to meet the demanding criteria of that prestigious agency of the American Pharmacists Association (APhA). The BPS is a panel created in 1976 by the American Pharmacists Association (APhA) to promote and regulate pharmacy specialization. To proceed to a due recognition of qualified pharmacists, the BPS has established rigorous criteria of certification in the speciality of Oncology Pharmacy. After curricular validation, the candidate to the final examination is given the opportunity to attend a demanding and high-quality training program. The BCOP certification attests that the holder of the title is a professional with the appropriate knowledge on the complexity of the multiple oncological therapies. In the United States, this certification is mandatory for every pharmacist of oncology hospital centres.
