Hospital da Luz Arrábida will hold, next April 1, another free workshop on nutrition during oncologic disease. The initiative, in partnership with Nutricia, will be coordinated by nutritionist Dília Soares , and all those interested in participating should register previously at the Oncology Centre. Cancer and respective treatments have consequences for patients also at nutritional level. Oncologic diseases change the body’s normal use of nutrients; therefore, many patients lose weight or experience undernutrition. The most common effects of oncologic treatments are: Decreased appetite, alteration in taste and smell; Nausea and vomit, abdominal pain and diarrhoea; Dryness of the mouth and lesions in the mouth and teeth; Pain and difficulty swallowing; Depression and anxiety. The nutritional follow-up has for goal to ensure in each case that the patient maintains a healthy and balanced diet. Today we know that a correct diet at all stages of oncological disease has a positive influence on evolution – contributing, namely, to the improvement of symptoms, a decrease in the rate of infections and post-operatory complications, and improvement of the response to treatment. If you are an oncologic patient, this workshop is for you. Participate! Date and time: 1 st April 2025, 11 a.m. Place: Hospital da Luz Arrábida, Oncology Centre Registration (mandatory): at the reception desk of the Oncology Centre
