The president of the Portuguese Private Hospital Association (APHP), Óscar Gaspar, was elected president of the European Union of Private Hospitals (UEHP), a federation that brings together 16 countries and represents more than six thousand private hospitals and clinics in Europe, reveals in a statement that association. According to the APHP website, Óscar Gaspar replaces French doctor Paul Garassus, who led the UEHP for the last ten years. The term of office at the head of UEHP is two years, with Óscar Gaspar maintaining his role as president of the Portuguese Association of Private Hospitalization (APHP). The UEHP was created in 1991 in Rome, following the merger of two associations representing the sector, whose origins date back to 1937. The mission remains: “to promote the quality of healthcare provision, focused on patients” on a European scale. The UEHP includes the following countries: Portugal, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Monaco, Bulgaria, Kosovo and Ukraine. Óscar Gaspar has been president of APHP since 2016, a position to which he has already been elected twice.
