Pedro de Araújo Gonçalves , Hospital da Luz cardiologist, took his aggregation exams in Medicine, in the speciality of Clinical Research, at the Faculty of Medical Sciences / Nova Medical School, Nova University of Lisbon. The aggregation exams earned the unanimous approval of the jury and included the discussion of a pedagogical report on his experience as teacher in this institution, besides a curricular discussion and a lesson on “Coronary disease”. The aggregation jury , which took place last February 16, included professors Helena Canhão (director of Nova Medical School, who presided the jury), Adelino Leite Moreira (Porto Faculty of Medicine, who argued the Report), Henrique Cyrne Carvalho (director of ICBAS, Porto University, who argued the Lesson), Nuno Neuparth (Nova Medical School), Lino Gonçalves (Coimbra Faculty of Medicine, who argued the curriculum vitae) and Pedro Rodrigues Póvoa (Nova Medical School). In the pedagogical report – entitled “From Pathophysiology to Cardiology, reflexions on teaching at Nova Medical School , Pedro de Araújo Gonçalves covered his experience, which started in the Pathophysiology Department, when he was still a student and was invited to be volunteer monitor, then progressing to the clinical years in the teaching of Cardiology. Presently, he holds the Curricular Unit of Heart and Lung in the 4 th year of Medicine, at Nova Medical School. In the Lesson on “Coronary disease” , he shared with the aggregation jury the results of several research papers published by the group of Cardiology and Imaging of Hospital da Luz in international journals of high impact factor, resulting from a partnership with international groups (namely the registries CONFIRM, PARADIGM and ICONIC) also doing research in this area. Pedro de Araújo Gonçalves is coordinator of the Interventional Cardiology Centre and of the Unit of Cardiovascular Unit (Imaging Centre) of Hospital da Luz Lisboa.
