The team of the Uro-oncology Centre and the Centre of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, led by Kris Maes , will perform, next November 7, at 11h a.m., a prostate surgery that will be followed online by the participants in ERUS 2020 congress. In the same day, by 1h p.m., Kris Maes will also moderate a plenary session on the new developments in the area of robotic surgery. The ERUS congress (European Robotic Urology Section) is organized every year by the Robotic Urology Section of the European Association of Urology, counting with the world’s most experienced surgeons in the area. This will be the 17 th congress, scheduled for November 6 and 7, for the first time in webinar platform . Along two days, the most recent topics in urologic robotic surgery will be discussed, as well as the technological advances and the scientific orientations, while following and commenting previously recorded or livestreamed surgeries, as it will be the case of the intervention to be held in the Operating Room from Hospital da Luz Lisboa. In September 2019, the ERUS congress took place in Lisbon and was organized by Hospital da Luz team, registering a record participation of surgeons. Hospital da Luz Lisboa was the first hospital to perform robotic surgeries in Portugal , in June 2010. In 2016, a second robot was acquired and more 1200 robotic surgeries were performed, the great majority to treat oncologic diseases, in the area of urology, but also in general and thoracic surgery, among others.
