The auditorium at Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim was filled with colour, joy, and emotion with another celebration of the Integrated Continued Care Unit (UCCI), on June 4, this year under the theme of circus. The event was open to all collaborators who wished to be present, and the auditorium quickly filled up to support and applaud our patients in recovery, who were, as always, the great protagonists of this special moment. Ivone Fonseca, the clinical coordinator of UCCI, had the task to present each moment of the celebration party, fulfilling it with her usual proximity and enthusiasm, involving everyone around. The show counted with the dedication and engagement of the whole clinical team and the support of patients. The latter were, in fact, the real artists: along the weeks preceding the event, they have prepared all the decorative material transforming the auditorium in a true circus, and on the big day they shone with each presentation. Puppet theatre, tightrope walkers, lion and serpent tamers, clowns, magicians and even “the strongest man in the world” gained life by the hands and talent of our patients in recovery, showing the importance of occupational activities in their daily journey. The talented dancers of Academia AM Dance Studio closed the performances with a dance routine that delighted all the present. As it is already a tradition, the party ended with a convivial snack between patients, relatives, friends, and collaborators, in an atmosphere of proximity, sharing and humanization that characterize the daily work of our UCCI, for over 15 years. Congratulations to all for another special moment!
