Hospital da Luz Arrábida is once again supporting the Porto Book Fair, held at the Palácio de Cristal from August 21 to September 6. While the fair is in session, visitors will be able to receive free health screenings from the hospital’s clinical teams, who will be available every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. In addition to the screenings (assessments of health indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood glucose), Hospital da Luz will ensure a response to any first-aid, in collaboration with the fire brigades present on site. Raising awareness about preventive health care and staying close to the community are the main objectives of this participation in what is one of Porto’s largest cultural events. As a result, various activities aimed at families and children will be organized, featuring Lu, the Hospital da Luz mascot. There will also be a community library – a space for sharing and accessing books – designed to promote reading, social interaction, and community engagement. Founded in 1930, the Fair is organized by the Porto City Council and features a cultural and entertainment program for all ages, including book presentations, debates, and concerts. It also pays tribute to a notable figure each year; this year’s honoree is the poet Inês Lourenço. Hospital da Luz has been supporting the Porto Book Fair since the 2023 edition , and this initiative has been very well received by visitors, who appreciate the integration of healthcare into a space dedicated to culture and leisure. Whenever the community calls, we are there!
