Hospital da Luz Lisboa will provide, on March 3, free nutrition assessments destined to the general public. The initiative will mark the World Obesity Day raising awareness to a disease affecting more and more the population. Obesity is a complex chronic disease and a major cause of other diseases, namely diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer. The latest health studies indicate that half the Portuguese Population is overweight. Lifestyle and dietary habits are the main aspects that can be modified to prevent obesity and associated diseases. In this initiative, the Nutrition team of Hospital da Luz Lisboa will provide assessments, through questionnaires and biomedical parameters measurement. The World Obesity Day has for goal to alert and raise awareness of the population to this disease, which was recognized as such by the World Health Organization (WHO) about 20 years ago. Preventing and taking measures against obesity is a fundamental step for individual health, reducing risk factors and / or the global load of other diseases. Participate in the initiative!
