Do you know what happens when you go to Hospital da Luz? Maria Luísa, Vicente, Duarte, Francisco, João, Maria Flor, Santiago, Xavier, Salvador, Matilde, Eduardo, Mateus, Yasmin and Maria do Carmo explain it all to you. They are playing doctors, nurses, and sick children, to show you what goes on, when your parents take you to Hospital da Luz. This is how the campaign “Doctor for a day” is presented, dedicated to the little ones, which will be launched by Hospital da Luz on the World Children’s Day. The purpose: helping to lose the fear of the “white coat” and of the hospital, showing in a realistic but also fun way what really happens, when children need to go to Hospital da Luz. Nine hospital situations are depicted in nine short and very amusing videos, where the key figures are the children, filmed in the peaceful and welcoming atmosphere of Hospital da Luz. They play doctors, nurses, health technicians and patients, to show every kid that, as João says in one of the videos, “going to Hospital da Luz is fine and heals all”. A broken arm after falling from the skateboard, a severe tummy ache that ultimately leads to surgery and a fever caused by a virus are three of the situations “lived” by our actors, and which require a trip to the Paediatric Emergency Service of Hospital da Luz. The remaining situations include the routine visits made by children to the hospital, such as a paediatric consultation, vaccination or visits to the ophthalmologist, dentist, otorhinolaryngologist or allergist. In every situation, the doctor, nurse, or health technician are literally the same size as the patient. Ones ask questions about symptoms, the others answer where it hurts and, in the end, they all explain what happened in the story of each video. Therefore, the campaign “Doctor for a day” acts as support material for parents and paediatricians, whenever necessary to show a child what happens in the hospital. “Doctor for a day” was directed by Luis Almeida. Many Takes produced it and created the campaign image, putting into practice the idea of paediatrician Vanessa Mendonça – physician integrating the paediatrics team of Hospital da Luz Lisboa and who ensured the technical supervision to the whole production, accompanying the shooting and making sure that the little “health professionals” did everything by the book. Besides the Hospital da Luz channels and the Paediatric areas of Hospital da Luz network, this campaign will also be spread on magazine “Estrelas & Ouriços”, through a partnership extending until 2024. The “Doctor for a day” videos are already available on the Hospital da Luz channel on YouTube.
